Terms of use and sale

Last updated: 17 October 2026

These terms cover your use of this website and anything you buy from it. They are written in plain English and they apply under the laws of England and Wales. Commissioned work has its own commission terms, and delivery, returns and care are set out on the shipping, returns and care page. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law.

Who I am

This website is run by Oliver E. J. Arnold, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("I", "me"). My postal address is: available on request through the contact form. You can contact me through oejarnold@protonmail.com. I am not currently registered for VAT, so prices include no VAT.

Using this website

You are welcome to browse, share links to pages, and share my posts on social media with credit. By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. You agree not to:

Copyright and permissions

All artwork, drawings, illustrations, storyboards, photographs, video, text, design and code on this site are protected by copyright and belong to Oliver E. J. Arnold, or are used with permission, unless stated otherwise. I assert my moral right to be identified as the author of my work.

Buying an original, a print or any other physical item gives you ownership of that physical object. It does not transfer the copyright, and it does not give you the right to reproduce, publish, sell, license, adapt or digitise the work, or to use it on products, merchandise, books, films, websites, games or advertising.

You may, with credit and a link to this site, share images of work you own, or links to this site, on social media and in personal posts. For any other use, including editorial, commercial, educational or exhibition use, please ask first and get my written permission. I will usually say yes to reasonable requests and may ask for a licence fee for commercial use.

If you believe something on this site infringes your rights, please contact me with the details and I will look at it promptly.

Information you send me

When you send an enquiry, commission request, photograph or message, you confirm that you have the right to send it, including any permission needed from the people in a photograph, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights. You give me permission to use it to answer you and to carry out the work you ask for. How I handle personal information is set out in the privacy notice.

Accuracy of the site

I take care to describe work accurately, but handmade work varies, and the colour, tone and texture you see on a screen depend on your display. Sizes are approximate unless stated. Charcoal and ink drawings are original works, not mass-produced objects, so small differences from photographs are normal. Prices, availability and descriptions may change without notice. If I discover an obvious pricing or description error after you order, I will tell you and you can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

Buying from the shop

Prices and payment. Prices are shown in pounds sterling (or the currency stated) and exclude delivery, which is shown before you pay. Payments are taken securely by Stripe, so I never see your card details. Your payment is only taken when you complete checkout.

How a contract is made. Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when I confirm by email that I have accepted your order and your payment has been received. Originals are unique, so if one has been sold or damaged before I can confirm your order, I will tell you promptly and refund you in full.

Ownership and risk. The item becomes yours when I have received full payment. Risk of loss or damage passes to you on delivery to the address you gave me. If I send an item and it is lost or damaged in transit, I will arrange a replacement or a refund (see the shipping, returns and care page).

Discount codes. From time to time I offer discount codes, such as the welcome offer of 10% off a first shop order (code WELCOME10). Unless the offer says otherwise: a code is for one use per customer, cannot be combined with another offer, has no cash value, applies to the price of items before delivery, may not apply to commissions or to items already reduced in price, and can be withdrawn or changed at any time. Codes obtained by misusing the offer, for example by creating several accounts or email addresses, will be cancelled.

Your right to cancel. If you are a consumer buying at a distance, you have the right to cancel and return most items within 14 days after the day you receive them, without giving a reason. This right does not apply to items made to your specification or clearly personalised, which includes commissions. The shipping, returns and care page explains how to cancel and how refunds work. This does not affect your legal rights if something is faulty or not as described.

Faulty or misdescribed items. Goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If something arrives damaged or is not as I described, contact me promptly with photographs and I will put it right with a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate.

Delivery. I aim to dispatch items within the times shown, but delivery dates are estimates and depend on the carrier. International buyers are responsible for any import duties, VAT and taxes charged by their country.

Commissions

Commissions, including portraits, figure work, illustration and storyboards, are covered by the separate commission terms. If anything in those terms differs from these terms for a commission, the commission terms apply.

What I am and am not responsible for

I will provide the work and services described with reasonable skill and care. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot legally be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:

Links to other sites

This site links to platforms and services I do not control. I am not responsible for their content or practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a complaint, please contact me first and I will do my best to resolve it fairly and quickly. These terms and any dispute about them, or about anything you buy, are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and wherever you live you keep the mandatory consumer protections of your home country.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version on the site on the day you order applies to that order. If I make a change that matters, I will update the date at the top of the page.
